get a humidifier. They range from $25 bucks for a small one at Wal-Mart to into the hundreds for a really big one. For a quick fix, put a big pot of water on the stove and boil it.

If you are replacing any thing like carpets if you go to a natural fiber you will cut down on static electricity. Or just have hard cover flooring.

The same goes for the clothes you wear. Natural fibers don't have static like man made.

What you have on your feet can make a difference.

If you increase the humidity this will also help.

Raise the humidity in your home by boiling a quart of water two times a week (more frequently if needed) until it's evaporated. You can also apply an antistatic solution, available in carpet stores, to the carpeting. A gallon ($20) will treat 400 to 600 sq. ft.

When summer comes and things get more humid, this problem disappears unless your family like to shuffle their feet on the carpet. Adding moisture to the air is the answer. You might look into adding one to your heating system.

I you have forced air install a humidifire.

Have fun with static electricity, charge yourself up and discharge on your cat's nose, that really snaps them out of it.

Rub a ballon on your kids head and stick it to the ceiling, have fun with it.

THIS IS LIFE, deal with it.
