Im trying to make sure what kind of fish i got....?

Question

Its a silverish blue main color, with an orange spot on the tail, im not sure if its a goldfish or a koi, it has whiskers, and a mouth like a koi but dosent look like the right shape on the pectorial fins... when i feed him goldfish flakes, he wont surface to get them most of the time, the pump pushing water in will push the flakes down then he will eat them, and he gose to town on the gravel, but spits it out....any ideas?... hes about 5inchs or so.. Thanx!

So do goldfish, but you really have to look for theirs!

ADDITION: oh, about the food - if he's new it may not be food he's used to or likes as much as before, it can be too hard/dry as well. Give him some time.

Could you post a photo? It would give us abetter idea of what he might be, rather than guessing!

nicely i in basic terms have been given 2 small gold fish one is a time-honored orange fan tail goldfish, the different is a black moor gold fish. they're so wonderful jointly they swim around and stick to one yet another in the tank they stay in its no cool to visual exhibit unit them swim jointly.

Sounds to me like you got a cat fish. Goldfish do not have whiskers.

Sounds like some type of barb...maybe tin foil barb?

sounds like a catfish to me. try googling it and see if u can find any pictures that look like it.
