Are there any good make at home drain cleaners?

Hair and grease I'm thinking. Its the bathtub. I moved in a few months ago and its been plugged since then. I've tried every kind of drain cleaner, its been taken apart once and cleaned out. It's been snaked. That worked for a few days then plugged again. I think it was so badly dirty that it keeps plugging up after the big clumps are taken out.

1. you may have a problem with backpitch on your drain pipe, all the draino in the world won't correct that. Draino and liquid plumber are crap anyways.

2. if it is an old drum type trap, replace it.

3. FlowEasy drain opener available at Lowe's and who knows where else. Contains concentrated sulphuric acid. Follow label directions exactly. If this doesn't work, call a plumber. It will eat anything organic, ANYTHING.

If this doesn't clear the drain, call a plumber.

When you use drain cleaners you have to put in enough cleaner to get to the clog.

This works best if the drain drains but very slowly.

Let the drain set like over night. Then your pour in the drain cleaner until it fills the pipe,

(Take you time & don't let any cleaner stand in the tub, if some does just rinse the tub with a little water before you let it stand.)

As the cleaner drains away add more to keep the drain full. When you have added the extra couple of cups of cleaner stop adding & let it set for about 1/2 hour. Be sure to use the type that is safe for all pipes. (It's better to use more of a cheaper product than less of a stronger cleaner)

Some times this will just loosen the clog & it will just slip down the drain & stay plugged, & need to be treated again.

Then run hot water slowly into the drain, if it keeps draining run it a little faster.

Run water in to the tub so there is a couple of inches of water then turn on the shower, if the extra water drains away & the drain keeps up with the shower you have done the job.

You want to run water to carry away as much of the clog as you can.)

If the water don't drain at all then it is best to snake the drain.

Any cleaner that you put in will only reach the trap & if the clog is past the trap it will not help much.

Some times it works best if you go through the over flow of the tub.

first off, don't mix drain cleaners. now after your drains have been run for a few days and all traces of the over the counter drain cleaners are gone you can continue. go to a hardware store, not a big box store, and get the acid for cleaning drains. also buy some goggles and rubber gloves. read the instructions carefully and be sure that you understand them. then just follow them to the letter and your drain troubles will be done. good luck, and be careful.

The technique is an identical regardless of motor vehicle. in case you have already had the alternator, starter and battery examined and that they are, in actuality, good, the subsequent step is to learn for intense paracitic drain. a million. Disconnect the useful battery cable on the battery. 2. connect in sequence (between the tip of the cable and the useful submit of the battery) an AMMETER, not a voltmeter. Use the 10amp scale and notice the analyzing. The amperage spec is in all probability n.t.e. 0.1amp yet you may determine that. 3. in case you have in intense of 0.1amp draw on the battery with all switches off and all doorways/hoods closed you probalby have unwated drain and could isolate the offending circuit. 4. With the ammeter nonetheless hooked in sequence, initiate disconnecting circuits on an identical time as watching for a decrease in amperage draw. the least complicated way is to do away with fuses separately. in many situations it somewhat is a single circuit it is the undertaking and whilst it somewhat is disconnected the amperage will drop severely. for occasion if the parasitic drain is 0.5amps and that i do away with a fuse and the draw drops to 0.1amps, it is the circuit. then you definately could isolate which portion of that circut is inflicting the drain. If removing fuses does not isolate the drain, disconnect factors that are under pressure immediately into the electric powered device without fuse. and don't overlook the alternator. in case you disconnect the alternator/regulator and the drain drops to <0.1amp, it somewhat is an inner subject with the alternator. 5. it somewhat is not as complicated because it sounds. yet undergo in concepts use an ammeter not a voltmeter. The latter will lead you off track. ultimately parasitic drain is modern-day in maximum vehciles presently simply by good state factors. it somewhat is a controversy of reducing it to a minimum.

There is a round plate called a overflow unscrew that plate and take it off. If you have one of those things that opens and closes the valve to hold the water in the tub take that off pull all that out, usually that's were the hair is all clogged up at. Get a snake and put it in there to unclog it. Not the drain itself because the snake will not go through it, too tight of a turn, you have to go through the overflow.......

Good Luck..............

I would recommend a foaming cleaner such as Liquid-plumr's Foaming pipe snake. Instead of being a liquid, it foams up and cleans the sides of the pipe.
