I just bought 2 golden hamsters for my kids & they have made their primary hang out place in a wheel that telescopes out of the Habit Trail.
Therefore, I cannot pottytrain them & the little slats in the wheel are making their dresser a mess!
Besides removing the wheel, would you recommend anything else?

the cookie sheet is a good idea but, i would take the wheel away just long enough for them to get used to going potty somewhere else. that way you don't have to clean a cookie sheet and a cage forever!! good luck!

Please do not remove the wheel as hamster loves wheel and it is their primary source of exercises! You can buy toilet sand which is available in all leading pets store! However if they still only hang out at their wheel, you may remove it and install a new one in side the cage.

I would put a cloth or something under the cage, you can clean this easyer. But I would kepp the wheel in there; the lill' fellows need ther exersize too. & for a heads up, depending on the breed of hammster they need to be seperated. They may look cute, but they fight when they get older.

Hamsters cannot be potty trained, but they choose there own place to do there business just like cats and litter boxes. My hamsters always did it in the corners of the tank I had them in. After they finish, they cover it up with the bedding just like cats cover it up with the stuff in litter boxes.

try putting that on a cookie sheet that you don't need, that way it can be dumped and the dresser stays clean
