A 'beeline' is a straight line to something.
Derived from the fact that bees at the hive are tipped-off by scout bees where the nectar is in relatioin to where the sun is (or should be if an overcast day) and they fly straight to the stuff.
Even if we had the sense to know exactly where our honey is we couldn't go straight for (it) because of various obstructions but bees can fly above the obstructions straight to the spoils.

A beeline is made by a bee when it comes back to a nest and does a "Wiggle dance" which gives directions to a flower or polen they want, The bees then leave the nest and go streight (Beeline) to the flower.
