With nearly every team generally going with a five man rotation it will be extremely difficult for any pitcher to reach 300 wins during this era of baseball. I think that after Tom Glavine (290) and Randy Johnson (280) reach 300 wins, it will be a very long time before we see any pitcher challenge the 300 wins level. 250 wins is probably more realistic and that's only if he stays healthy.

He has 78 wins right now lol. Age 27.---28 in 4days--- If he pitches until he is 40 he has to avg 17 wins... I just don't see it happening. CC Sabathia, a year young and 3 more wins. he may even have a better chance. Or Carlos Zambrano, 2 years younger and 64 wins. Willis has 58 wins. It will be very tough for any of these people to win 300 games. I don't believe Johan has the best chance of the young pitchers today, he just didn't start young enough. Felix Hernandez, 20 years old, 16 wins. He is in good shape.

Go Twins!! I can't wait til home opener!! Anyways, Santana is an awesome pitcher for us, but I don't think he'll get to 300 wins. If he was a few years younger, he'd have a chance I think. But to get 300 at this point, he'd have to stay really healthy and stay on his game for many more years, which doesn't seem too probable. I just hope he can help us win a World Series in the next year or 2. I'd be fine then! :-)

No he won't get to 300 he may get 200 but I doubt he'll be around for 300 he's currently 28 years old and has won 78 games. In 10 years if he's average 20 wins in that span that means he'd be at 278 wins but I dont see that happening I see his average wins per season would be around 15 that leaves him at 228 wins. It'll be close but I don't think he'll make it. Plus it doesn't come into effect if there's any injuries or if batters would be able to hit him after seeing him for years. So no I think it's a long shot.

Johan is one of the best pitchers to ever play the game. He'll probably be the Cy Young Award winner for the next 5 years compared to all the other pitchers in the AL! That is, if Rich Harden doesnt' stay healthy. But yes, Johan will definitely get to 300 wins in my opinion.

Yes, he definitely will. He is consecutive each year. In '03 he had 12 wins, '04 he had 20 wins, '05 he had 16 wins, '06 he had 19 wins. As you can see in this 4-year period he has had 67 wins. In career total he has had 78. So, he will have 300 in no time.

No, and I say that only because he's about to turn 28 and has 78 wins. He would need 11 straight 20 win seasons to get to 300. That's not going to happen - that would put him at 39 years old. Or he'd need 15 straight 15 win seasons (approximately). You need to have success real early on in your career PLUS longevity in order to get to 300.

Anything is possible, but he would have to win 20 games per year for 15 years to be at 300 wins. Longevity will play a big part in trying to reach 300 wins.

not enough time. He's already 28, not old, but it doesn't really give him enough time to get it. He'd have to average a little over 20 wins for the next 11 seasons. The way that rotations are set up these days, it's hard to imagine. He's definitely that good of a pitcher. Just won't get the chance, most likely. That's unfortunate, I'd like to him get it.

He could reach the 300 wins, but the fact is that he has to stay healthy for 10 more seasons.
