The wax does dissapear. It is a colios mixture, not a true solid. More like a really stiff liquid. The was goes to liquid and is absorbed in to the wick. It then goes to vapor and combusts. Wax (a hydrocarbon ) and the o2 in the air give off light, heat, water vapor. (put a mirror above a candle to see this). it is an incomplete burn since soot is also a by product.
---Try this
Blow out the candle and put a drinking straw next to the smoke near the wick. Put a lit match next to the other end. the vapor will light.

No violations here. Burning the wax converts the energy in the wax to heat and light
