my cousin was murdered 6 years ago...the guy who did it did plead guilty, was sentenced to 5 years even tho he admit to doing it, "found" God and was out after 2 years! NO THEY DO NOT DESERVE A SECOND ******* CHANCE! if that man was in front of me i would kill him myself and then you would hear i was the murdered! ALL OF THEM NEED TO DIE! and i agree with the organ donor part, cause at least they'll do something good!

The problem here is the definition of Criminals. If we lived in a perfect world, your suggestion might be the rational solution.

However, we're faced with several problems. As some have mentioned, some Criminals simply made a mistake. They may have the potential to become upstanding citizens who may do some good in their life. Larry King, has a celebrity mug-shot for stealing in his early years. The other side of it is, some criminals are not criminals at all but were falsely convicted. If we dealt with every 'criminal' harshly, how would you feel knowing a 'criminal' was made into an organ donor only to discover years later he was not responsible but was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Kinda sucks if you were that guy who is minding your own business having a nice day, and the next moment you're a 'criminal' and have your organs extracted and you don't even know what's going on.

Our judicial system takes into account false convictions, and even today we still have people in jail who are proven innocent, and those people aren't even compensated for their years lost, just a simple 'apology'. Our founding fathers said it best 'Better to let ten criminals go free, than one innocent man condemned'.

Well I For One Would Hate To See Them Turned In To Organ Donars Considering Most Of Them Are Infected With One Thing Or Another, But Yeah I Agree That There Should Be No Second Chances For Those Who Commit Violent Crimes But I Also Would Say I Don't Believe Its A VIOLENT Crime Unless Someone Is Phisically Hurt

Im not too sure about the question, but I'll say it will depend on the person (criminal).

If its a person who's willing to change and become a better one, you know, regrets what he did, then it's okay to be given a second chance, and believe it or not, these people do form a new life, of course only after they get a good job, which can take a while due to the fact that they were formerly imprisoned, but they change into "good" people, but the rest who commited unforgiven crimes, yes, they should be utilized for organ donations, they're body is worth but not their life.

Criminals are the product of your society. Try to understand your role in life is not just mean spirited hatred even if you thought you had the high moral ground you didn't . the legal system is for protection, and justice should be served not the petty cheap minded trifling vengeance of those who haven't gained the full picture . when you lower yourself to the thinking of the defective minded or criminal you set up justification for those very criminal action that you should detest . Detest the actions not the people who are both criminal and victim and victimizer. Do you honestly think if they had the advantage of your mindset and knowledge they would have chosen to remain criminals . the most important part of this justice is not cruelty towards others but prevention of crime .and rehabilitation can't happen when you refuse to allow it . Hope I don't see you behind the bars taking revenge on yourself for confused and emotional reasons someday this has happened before . and the innocent have served many years behind bars too so I'm glad when this process is humane and not the other. some have to kept locked up for now but some are successfully rehabilitated and not should be punished beyond the neccesity of the protection of the populace

Thank God a man with some logic. Are you from Texas? You must at least be a Southerner. No, rapist, child molesters, people who commit heinous acts against the elderly and the defenseless should go to jail and never get out. I personally think they should bring back chain gangs and HARD labor. I also think that some of them should be clapped in chains in a dungeon with molded bread and fetid water to drink for life. Good thing for them I am a nurse and not a judge huh?

I think there are a few crimes you can learn from the first time you do it. I think child molesters, Hard drug dealers and any dealer who deals to kids, murderers, rapists, and a few others should be put down in the courtroom on national T.V. Then if the others become repeat offenders then deal with them as it warrants. like 2nd offense something short of death 3rd of fence death. People would think twice before they broke the law.

Haven't you ever made a mistake where you realized you were wrong after you had done the wrong thing, and you had learned from it and vowed not to do it again? Yet when you tried to apologize to the person and tell them that, they wouldn't even listen to you, they wouldn't give you a second chance? Well that is the same thing here. They made a mistake. Maybe they changed. It is possible, yet unlikely, but possible.

The thing is that people can change. Honestly they can! If there is proof that they are changed people then let them go. If not then they deserve whatever is coming to them. Its part of human nature to make mistakes. Its whether or not why try to make up for them that makes a difference.

Harsh.
The problem is that despite the damage they do and the sentence they pass on their victims, we become no better than the criminals if we take life or liberty from them.
That's not justifying their actions, it simply saying, aren't we better than that?
