Once you've made sure your not pregnant... are you very active in sports? Are you underweight? These factors might contribute to that problem, but after that, you should really go back to your doctor for those concerns.

How long had you been having your period before this happened? If not for very long it's normal for periods to be erratic, even up to three months...

I went through the same thing when I was that age. Its normal. My doctor put me on birth control (I was a virgin too) to regulate my period. Its not going to hurt anything if you don't take the pill, but your periods might be heavier when you do get it. A lot of people have irregular periods. No need to worry.

If you just recently started your period, it is completely normal to have quite irregular cycles. Beyond that, if you are underweight, you may not produce enough hormones to have regular cycles. If you are overweight, fat tissue produces estrogen, so you may end up with an excess of estrogen and then not enough progesterone to have a proper cycle.
I'm proud of you for deciding to wait, but I also do want to make sure that you understand that if you're just messing around with a guy and his penis is even close to your vagina and he releases just a little fluid...he might not even notice, it can contain sperm that could get you pregnant. Anyway, that being said, if you continue to be concerned, talk to your doctor again, and if he/she does not seem sympathetic, talk to another doctor...maybe have your mom take you to a gynecologist.

Being pregnant is NOT the only reason. Sometimes women have these "skips". Take it from a guy who has been through these dramas many times with former GF's. Most of the time is turns out to be nothing. In fact, EVERY time in my case they had their period and it was just a fluke.

If you just started you period, that happens often. If not, and you aren't pregnant you may want to see a doctor. Though, if you are only 14 and never had sex it is probobly not that serious. Are you eating properly? Poor nutrition can lead to you skipping you period too.

Don't panic. If you are new to menstruation, it might take a few months or even one or two years before it becomes regular. So, instead of panicking, go and see your Gynaecologist.Sound and calming advice will come from there.
