Perhaps the biggest blunder in the history of this nation. But, there are only three really lame reasons why Bush unconstitutionally and illegally invaded another sovereign nation:
1) His family wanted revenge after Hussein humiliated Bush, Sr. during Desert Storm;
2) His oil buddies want all that OIL swimming underneath Iraq's sands, at ANY cost;
3) The giant U.S. military-industrial complex needs 'war' to help boost its profits. That's why the U.S. was engaged in the Korean Conflict; the Cuban Missile Crisis; Vietnam; the Cold War; and Desert Storm. It's all about OIL and MONEY - nothing else. -RKO-

We did not make a mistake going in. Saddam was a threat to peace in the region and had to be taken out. The mistake was not going in with such overwhelming force that we could not stop all insurrection before it started. We dismantled the government and did not have sufficient troops to maintain basic services while setting up a new government. Perhaps Mr. Rumsfeld should have studied the Marshall Plan before sending the troops in.

No. But we did make a mistake by not going into Iraq and fighting it to win. Our current problems over there are because we fought a "minimalist" war, while our enemies are fighting us full-out. We fight like we are in some sort of a contest...not a life and death struggle. In boxing, you can win by merely knocking the opponent down. In a war, you have to destroy him.

Mistake or not,,,,,
The current problem there, must be dealt with.
Bush wants our troops to fight a (half) war.
Bush thinks a political correctness war can be won.
We need a real President to win this war.
Just heard yesterday, Bush may soon allow open gays into the Military.
Bush is a total failure.

If you ask me, [and you did] I say we were too merciful, after 9-11; mecca should have been a mushroom in the sky. -then watch the rats scurry. Iraq was Bush's way of diplomacy.

Yes and No.

What if Iraq had WMD? Then it wouldn't have been a mistake.

I think after we didn't find the WMD and Saddam was captured we should have pulled out gradually, not still be there

no. if america just left the arab nations alone they will just keep on accumalting bombs and nukes, torture and kill their own people, terrorize everyone in their region , etc... They are like a cancer that needs to be taken care of. Look what happened with 9/11. we left them alone for a while and they screwed us over big time. they're like stupid little kids that need to be put in their place. we need to kill all these terrorist scum.
