New at this, very bad this winter, lost asphalt tiles off roof, there was a "ambulence roofer" hitting alot of us the day after. He gave me a quote of $500, there's about 40 (?) missing. Plus, what about replacing tiles that match somewhat. He of course said, you might want to think about adding another layer on the entire roof $3400.

Is this a rip??

im a roofer /builder in oklahoma , itwill cost you about $120 per sq, that three packs of shingles, they cost about$ 36 to $ 46 per sq to buy from lowes ,the lumber yard,
40 missing , nah ,there 22 shingles in a pack ,thats less than one sq ok , you need to pay about $175 ,not includeing the price of the shingles ...... grand total of $ 250

ok if your roofs that bad, get three quotes pay the guy that tell's you ," yes ive been on the roof, ive taken some pitures for you to see, in my opion you need a new roof ,and ill be back with a good quote, tommorow" and get a guartee in writeing , if you need to measure your roof ,measure the outside walls and you will get the over all sq you will need, to replace , go ask at your local lumber yard for a roofer, that buy there a lot , ,and please dont add to the roof allways tear off the old ones . You do the legwork. Find a couple of those torn off shingles, take them to Lowes, and the Depot and then pick the best possible match you can. They have about 15 different colors there in various thicknesses. You do this, not some roofer.

Then buy a couple bundles of those, I think there are like 20 or so to the bundle. That will cost you about $20.

Then call a handyman to fix it. Easy to do, just take a pry bar and remove the old ones and insert the new ones.

nothing to it really.
