it's the trade system so that everyone gains for what they produce. in a tribe it would be something like cattle, sheep, pumpkins, all currency under a different name. until we practice general reciprocity then we will always have a need for money.

Sometimes I am flabbergasted by some of the questions asked here. Let's see: Suppose I spend 16 hrs making a blanket. I am not going to give this blanket away. If you want the blanket you must pay for it so that I can get food, dental work, whatever it is that I need to exist.

Its pretty simple isn't it? Someone makes something you need. You pay them for their time & skill. They cover their expenses & use the money to buy what they need.

Bartering only goes so far. Not everyone needs my blankets. I have nothing else to offer. Ergo. Money.

i know! i hate money. well i hate like how bad it can affect a lot of people. sometimes i wish we could just not have money. but i guess it's so we can..... trade?
