I have a 60,000 well-written, character driven novel about a vampire who falls in love with a human (its not as simple as it sounds, its more emotional than action) and the story that unfolds. Thing is, I looked at some online publishers and read the stories they put out, and the e-books are TRASH. Smut with no purpose and then cheese upon lame with a side of stupid. Does anyone know a DECENT publisher where I could send my manuscript, or query letter, to? In this "paranormal romance" genre? Some place of QUALITY?

While I agree, some eBooks are poorly written, it is unfair to make generalizations that they are all trash. ePublishers are gaining in popularity and if you want proof, check out how many people here on Yahoo! Answers are asking for sources of downloadable books. So I wouldn't eliminate ePublishers as a legitimate source for publishing your work. I agree with the other answerer, though, in that they may not pay as much.

One of the best resources for finding a suitable publisher for your genre/story type is a current copy of Writer's Market. I just purchased a copy of Novel & Short Story Writer's Market. In the back of the book, publishers and agents are indexed by subjects they publish.

Vampire/Paranormal stories are growing in popularity. I believe even Harlequin/Silhouette considers those categories for publication.

Also, check out a recent edition of Romantic Times Book Review and read through the reviews of Paranormals. Each review lists the publishers, so you KNOW that publisher would be interested in that category. Best of luck!

You've obviously looked at the wrong publishers. E-books are generally not trash, but they don't sell as well as print ones. Your book is a bit short for most print publishers, though. Para is sometimes published by romance publishers.
