If you've written a book, add your name, date and the copyright symbol (c) in a circle. There is no need to buy copyright through the federal government. It's a ridiculous waste of time, energy and money. Your book is already LEGALLY protected with your name and date on it. You don't seriously think that every published author in the world has purchased copyrights, do you ?

A copyright is applicable to your work the moment it is put into a final form. Registering your copyright with the copyright office does afford you extra protections, but it is not required. The fee is $45 per application.

copyrights are controlled by the government, not the public library system. you may be able to get information about copyrighting from a librarian, but they can't actually copyright it for you.
