Do they work and what kinds are the best? I'm thinking of getting one because I'm riding on a ticket and I wanna be more careful because cops around me are jerks and stop you if you're going 5 over. :'(

Get a Rocky Mountain radar detector. I bought one of those in 2001, and it has saved me many times. You just have to make sure you are driving at the speed limit too. Some cities have the speed limits set at 35 miles per hour, and a cop will give you a ticket if you are going 45 miles per hour in a place like that. There may be better radar detectors available, but some of the cheap ones will constantly give you false warnings. They are not worth having because everything sets them off. The RMR-C450 is the best radar detector Rocky Mountain Radar makes. The "DLS" series is really good too. You should never become angry at police for stopping speeders. They are simply trying to bring in revenue for local governments. Many local governments set up speed traps just to collect more money for the city.

When I used to have one, I actually drove slower because of all of the false alarms. They are kind of a pain in the neck to have, and if the police use laser they are pretty much worthless anyway.

The trick I normally use is to make sure I'm not the fastest car on the road, and to find a leadfoot to follow about 1/4 mile ahead on the highway.

Slow down and save some money.

If you have cruise control, use that provided the weather is good.
