Most effective upgrade possible for a laptop (and any other laptop) would be upgrading the RAM. Your RAM is very little. Get a minimum of 512 RAM but recommended to go for 1GB.

As for the other possible way, don't use your internal hard drive for storing personal data. Instead, use an external one so that your hard drive has more space allowing the laptop to run faster.

Well you can start with MORE RAM. Bang for the buck its the most effective way to increase performance. Upgrading to 512 will improve performance for not much $$. Even better 1gig.

Beyond that you have to start changing CPU's etc which generally is not as economically feasable with Presario. (some will take faster CPUS some wont)
