Hate is Just Another Word That Describes The World

I am a boy that is still searching for something,
Is the world still spinning with so much hate?
Am I alive, or is it just an illusion?
I try to reach the sky, I jump so high, but instead I fall right back down to Hell.

Am I stuck in a world of pain?
You try to find the answers, you're being lifted to the sky,
But you fall back down to Earth, you break all of you're bones and then you die.
Is there no escape from this world of hate and pain?
I'm still searching for the answers.

I'm only 12. Is this normal? I don't exactly think happy thoughts. I hardly ever think them.

No, it doesn't make you sound crazy in any way at all. In fact, it makes you sound quite normal. Heck, even smarter than most. It's pretty impressive to be able to put your feelings in words so well at your age.

Despite how happy everyone your age seems lots of them are experiencing the same doubts about themselves and everyone else. It's a pretty confusing and stressful time in life for most of us.

That said, if you really do find it that difficult to find happy moments in our life, if you are unhappy more days than not, it'd be a good idea to talk to a professional about it.

Depression is a real, painful, but very treatable disease. You can talk to a counselor at your school to see if your school has a psychologist on staff (many do). Your doctor can also recommend some one and, I certainly hope, your parents can also help with this. Anything you say to a psychotherapist is very strictly confidential. They can't even talk to your parents about the stuff you say. The only exception is if you present and obvious and immediate threat to yourself or someone else. Saying something like "I want to die" does not count as enough to break confidentiality, though.

Also, if you go to church, temple, or whatnot, your pastor, minister, rabbi, etc... can be another very useful person to talk to. Sometimes what you say to him or her can be confidential, too, but sometimes not. He or she will be able to tell you. If you don't belong to a house of worship many are still open to letting you come in to talk with them.

Most importantly, nothing in your poem makes you sound crazy. Seeking "mental help" doesn't mean you're crazy. Really, especially these days, it just makes you normal. It's just having someone to talk to about all the things that concern you, someone to tell these feelings to who will not judge you and will take it all just as serious as you. Whether psychotherapist or religious figure they know what you are going through and many of them have gone through it, too.

I wish you the best of luck with this and everything else.

PS: Trust me, it gets way better. Whoever said that the teen years are the best of your life was the crazy person ;-) Still, it certainly doesn't need to be a time of suffering.

Sounds like you actually look around and wonder. That's not crazy, but it could be depressing, depending on what you're looking at. Sooner or later you'll stop looking around so much and just do your best to be a steady producer of fun things, good things, interesting things, and let the rest of the world do what it wants. I really can't imagine what it must be like to be a kid right now. Especially an intelligent one. (But you did spell "you're" wrong. It's "your" in that sentence.)

I think its wonderful!
For a moment, I felt it - your communication of emotion is also wonderful and I'm sure many people can relate to it.
Just a note- everyone goes through this at one time or another - there is more out there - just don't stop searching, as it may come in most unexpected ways, and when it does, appreciate it more than ever!

Nah, nothing crazy here. Just another case of normal teenage angst. It'll pass.
