I am the Head football coach for a Varsity team and I believe that you should take a long look in the mirror. Do I enjoy the time I spend in practice and during games if the answer is yes then by all means give it your all and that is the best reward you could get.

Of course. I was horribly weak when I was in 8th grade. I got fed up with it and worked my butt off after 8th grade season, all the way up til now, and don't plan on stopping.

What you HAVE to do is A LOT of running. It's GREAT for the legs, and good legs are required for ALL positions. It will build your endurance, which you will need. Lift your weight, don't feel bad if you start out on low weight, that's why you're lifting. ALL great players were weak at some point, then decided they wanted to fight and play as hard as they could, earn that spot.

You can do position drills with friends over the off-season, easy, just grab friends and go out and have fun, work on your spot.

Football is a awesome sport. Stick with it, just stick with it, but don't forget, you have to work. Also, most of all, JUST HAVE FUN.

Good luck, and I hope you'll be dressing on Friday nights :)

hey, if you love the sport then why not? too few people nowadays play because they love the sport. alot of other kids that know they arent going to play just quit and dont even try. joining the team even though you might not play shows some pretty good character.

hi.
sounds like you are the next Ruddy he was a small man who didn't get into very many games but when he did because he loved the game so much he was a little power house. if you love the game that much and you really want to play the game then get inspired by Ruddy the move and enjoy yourself.

Continue to play. I am a coach. Trust me, coaches love players that love being part of the team. If you stop playing, you will regret it. See it through and work hard at improving. You never know what could happen.

Once you are out of high school it is unlikely that you (or most of your teammates, for that matter) will ever strap on gear and play full contact ever again. This is a unique time in your life, and a unique opportunity not to be wasted.

I played on a high school team that never won a game. . . and I wouldn't trade that experience for anything.

Play on.

Best reason to do something is if you love it. I don't know how old you are, but exercise to build speed and strength, makes nearly any sport more fun to play.
