This could end up being a major problem. I had fluid under my knee once, and the doctors had to insert a 3 inch needle and drain out all of the liquid. It was extremely painful, but definitely worth it! There is a possibility that it is something else that can be treated with prescription cream, that will allow the fluid to drain out, eventually scab, and then heal over. Good luck, hope some of this helps. But first and foremost, go see a doctor.

If the fluid is too much in your knee, then it is best aspirated by your orthopedic surgeon. The fluid may disappear over time but it will be long. Once you get the fluid out, if you are in pain, you will get dramatic relief. It is not that painful of a procedure. BTW since the injury has been several weeks old already, icing it won't help.
