HELP please.....
I just recently moved back on my own and I have a nice size 1bedroom house that I rent . I can do pretty much what I want to in it as long as I don't destroy it. I live on 623.00 a month & 505.00 goes to bills ect. so there is not a lot of extra money for extras to decorate.
I am usually crafty & creative, but I really want something different that is fun & funky.
I DO NOT want the "norm' but not to extreme. It's my home & I would like to have a place that picks up my spirits not depress me.

You cant go past paint for a cheap, quick decorating change, and there are a lot of innovative types of paint to try. Also, just a small section of bold wallpaper looks great. Look in second hand stores for old lamps, and decorate them with braid, crystals and glue. Drape interesting lengths of material, and add a few nice plants.

Make curtains out of a variety of objects. i saw a cute string curtain made from twine and bottle tops, tie lengths of twine to a stick, take shiny bottle tops and squeeze them around the twine. a bright and shiny equivalent of a beaded curtain.
or you can use dried beans, strung with lots of space between, and it makes an airy, natural curtain. Or you can hang Cd's you may have lots that you no longer listen to.
Find fabric samples in a fabric store, and stretch the fabric over some twigs to create unique art. use wrapping paper, and decoupage the paper on to boxes, etc. find pretty napkins and handkerchiefs, sew together to make a pretty topper for your bed, and just pin them along the top of a curtain to make a matching valance.
lots of things to do!!

I have a friend that decorated her home inexpensively with paint techniques and patterns. In her bedroom she used sponging not a lot on the walls... it was beautiful. the nice thing is that if you mess up then just paint over it and try something else., but i did something similar in my home. and it worked out for me.. i just went with geometric patterns. I used tape to section off my areas. I even had help from my 10yr old +12 yr old.

Is there an decade you like? Maybe the tie dyed shirts and beads hanging in a doorway.
Paint your walls orange and pink. That ought to perk your spirits. A big fuzzy rug.
