does going on the pill make your periods hurt less?

Tremendous difference for me! My cramps used to be so bad I'd have to stay home with them, just curl up in bed and sob... or when I was older, get drunk, because nothing helped.

When I'm on the pill, I get some very small cramps that I hardly notice and go away with some Tylenol, and sometimes I'll get a headache and sometimes I'm a bit touchy, but it's night and day for me compared to before. The bleeding is lighter, too, and only lasts about 3 days compared to the 5 or six I used to have.

As the others said, everyone's different. I'm on the 'second generation' pills that have lower dose of estrogen. I highly recommend giving it a shot if your cycles are really bad. Anything's worth a try!

Everybody is different and there are a lot of different brands of pills. From my experience, the pill has made the cramps less severe or nonexistent, and periods are shorter. And that has been true for my friends. But there are a few exceptions when nothing changes.

going on the pill does not help you with the cramps but it does make it lighter depending on your flow. There are side affects. I had been on three different types of pills but it nevered helped so I had to stop taking them. The pill is not for every one. The only thing that I can tell you is that you should check out different types of birth control like an IUD that the doctor will put in for five years or until you are ready to have a family. Also the shot that you get about every three months. Just think about your options. The only bad thing about the pill is you would have to remember to take it every day or it will not be affective.

They didn't do much for me. But they do make them shorter! It's amazing. Every single month, it comes exactly the same time. I can track it almost down to the hour. And then, know exactly how and when it will stop. I had crippling cramps before, and then bad cramps during. If you have ovarian cysts (feels like pain when you ovulate) it will get rid of that. It also makes your boobs bigger! And it DEFINITELY clears up skin. It's got some serious benefits. The only thing is, when you first start you might feel nauseous for a little bit. But it's so worth it.

For me it did. I'm on LoEstrin 24 and I never have cramps anymore, however, the first 2 months I was on it, my cramps were worse than they had ever been before. So your body can take a while to adjust to the pill and get the full effect.

I have heard that the pill will regulate your period but i have never taken the pill. I do take depo provera that is a birth control in the form of a needle that you get every three months. So it's better than the pill because you don't have to take it everyday. And the best part of it is that it takes your period away all toghether. I used to get really bad cramps but because of depo provera i havn't had a period in 2 years. I love the stuff. My doctor even told me that's the most effective form of birth control.

Yes. It controls the heavy flow, well the flow in general, thereby making it hurt less.
