If you wanna know who's connected to your computer, close all programs that may connect the net, browser, messenger, whatever.
Then go to the start menu, then click "run" type "cmd" (without the quotes) and then type "netstat" (no quotes).
It will list all the active connection.
Then, to protect yourself, get a firewall, zonealarm is not the best but the easiest.
Finally, get yourself Adaware, Avast antivirus (both free) and clean your comp.
You should be ok with these.
Also consider learning linux ;)
