I'm a Red Sox fan and I like Varitek, but for fantasy give me Piazza.

Now for the rest:

Nick Johnson is hurt and will not start the season.
Sanchez only provides AVG.
Rolen - good (bright spot with Thome)
Tulowitzki - unproven
Pods - only steals and not sure to start season??
Byrnes - barely adequate
Hawpe - barely adequate again
Thome - with Rolen your only offense
Bench - almost useless

Carpenter/Oswalt - excellent 1-2 punch
Clemens - part year player
K-Rod/Hoffman/Jenks/Borowski - nice set of closers
Duke/Padilla/Loaiza - all questionable
Rincon - decent mid-reliever,will get the occasional win, a few Ks and maybe some ERA/WHiP help.

Simply put, the pitching rocks, the offense is non-existent.

I'll just answer the Catcher question - if someone is willing to give you Piazza for Varitek take the deal fast. Piazza will be playing DH this year and will have more RBI opportunities and play more games than in the past. Getting him out from behind the plate will keep his leg strength and he should produce his near career BA of .300 and drive in close to 100 RBI's.
I don't know what your stat categories are but the rest of the team looks like you joined the draft in round 4.

ok, enable's initiate with the closers replace: it particularly is the irrelevant area of the commerce reason the two adult males are dazzling closers and could finally end up with a similar kinda numbers on the top of the 365 days. Boston could get extra save possibilities than Nathan yet i do no longer think of that it is that massive of a deal for this reason. relating to the hitters now: in certainty you're giving a 1B for a 3B and swapping OFs. In baseball the situation eligibility is very almost the main needed element, in case you acquire a extra perfect 1B than Pena (i'm hoping you do) then Pena won't play plenty for you and he in simple terms had one super 365 days (continuously a frightening certainty). on the different hand, 3B are extra stable to discover than 1B and in the journey that your 3B replaced into Lowell then getting Gordon is definitely a sensible pass. Lee is an improve over Fukudome, it particularly is a no-brainer... whether Fukudome has an incredible initiate, he's not any tournament to Carlos Lee. i could do the commerce if I have been on your shoes. the different guy is probable a Sox fan and overpaying for Paps ;)

Varitek is getting old fast and he is still a catcher mainly. His injury history is not pretty.
Piazza will be a DH primarily, saving the wear and tear on his body. He should probaly get over 500 AtBats for the first time in years.
Stick with Piazza.

"keep v-tek he is a better catcher then piazza trade rodger clemens as fast as possible!!! he doesnt even have a team"

Piazza out performed him in Petco Park, one of the biggest Pitching parks in baseball, vtek was in fenway, get piazza. Piazza is going to be in graet shape all year, as DH of the A's.
There is a potential 25-30hr season, 90 rbi and a 280 avg. vtek is more like 20 hrs. 75 rbi and 260 avg.

I agree with Enormus...take this deal FAST! Not only for the reasons he explained, but also for the fact that he is hitting in a more "hitter friendly" park this year.
As for your team, it depends on how many teams are in your league. If this is an 8 team league you are gonna get killed. Frankly, unless this is a 20 team league you won't be winning it...sorry. The pitching staff looks fine, but you have absolutely NO ONE I would consider a "top tier" guy.
Good luck, hope this helps ya...

Try to steal another hitter from that team.Give up Clemens or one of your closers.

Varitek is just a name at this point. The last time I checked, you don't get fantasy points for being a "good catcher behind the plate" :)

1st of all you went with too many pitchers in the early rounds. this is gonna hinder you in your batting stats.
As far as the trade goes, take it.
Piazza will put up good offensive numbers this year at DH and he won't have the wear on tear on his body playing behind the plate. He should feel rejuvenated and stay fresh. Nice trade value

Piazza used to be great..but now he's nearing the end of his career. I dont think it is wortho for you to do that trade..Varitek will probably perform better this year anyway.
