Get a pair of scissors. Cut the top off. Believe me, it's easier in the long run.

Place the large part of the bag on your left with straight stitches on top. Look on the other side and you will see the looped stitches. Clip the threads next to your body and start unlooping the thread on bottom of bag. You have to remove the stitches in reverse order of which the bag was sewn, and this is the correct order. You may have to pluck at it a while, but I am sure you can get it worked out. Good luck!

The string is in a slip knot. You should be able to find the tail end of the knot all you should have to do is pull. Look at the ends closely. You should be able to pick the correct one out.
