Alright so I was brushing my teeth in the bathroom. I was starring at some shaving cream on the counter. The shaving cream was slighlty wet. So all of sudden the shaving cream moves all by itself! What could have caused this to happen? (it only slightly moved though, like half an inch)

Entrapped air (bubbles) were bursting on all sides of the foam, including the bottom. A slight air cushion along with the soapy nature of the foam let it move at the slightest slope or even air currents.

You had a mini hover-craft.

There was probably water underneath the shaving cream. In fact, the water probably settled out of the cream.
Foam riding on top of a thin layer of water has vitually no friction, so the slightest breeze will move it, but as the cream moves, it basically slides off the water. As soon as it hit a dry part of the counter, it stopped moving.

Similar things have happened to me. This is exactly what it is: Sometimes a little water will be sitting right under the can of shaving cream or whatever it is, and it will just slide on it until it hits a point of resistance on the table.

I suppose that the light in the bathroom was off before you entered. When you turned the light on, the temperature in the room began to rise. As the temperature rose, air trapped in the soap (shaving cream) bubbles expanded. That's what caused the movement. It has probably happened many times before but you just happened to notice it today.

well...it is possible that the wetness and stuff caused it to move. i don't know the exact science of it but like a hot glass out of the dishwasher, turned over wet side down will sometimes glide across the counter. not fast. just a little. anyway...it's possible that the water had something to do with it.

or you house is haunted.

underoath are hot.
