Girls-
Popular- Outgoing, fisty, and always having "In" type clothing. Usually they are rebels or are very preppy (Though they might not look it)
Not Popular- Shy, Don't care how others think of them, Center of being "Picked on" And insecure.
Boys- Well... I don't really know since I'm a girl and people really don't care as much about popularity for boys as much as girls because girls haved to be "perfect" otherwise theyre uncool.

Mostly attitude and looks. Could be clothes, joining the football team, hanging with the right people, car, money, the music you listen to, etc. but with the right attitude and/or looks you can be very popular no matter what.
