To begin with it is not a matter of "Empires" in as much as the US is indeed a corporatocratic Empire. It is a matter of historical "eras" or "ages" or "civilizations".
Indeed, historically all of the above rise and fall. The decline invariably comes from within, rather than externally. And seldom if ever has it anything to do with gods or other superstitions. The time at the "top" is very short. The peak of the Renaissance was but 25 years. Although it appears that the US is in a period of decline, which may well be true, I am not so sure. One indication is the language which is still in a mode of expansion. Conversely, the existing decadence of the political life may well foreshadow the beginning of the decline. Clearly, despite the rhetoric and propaganda, the great promise for humanity that a benevolent civilization could foster has not been realized.

Yes... With one big difference... much faster and with nothing really good to remember .... US history (what history ???? is 400 years enough???) is full of wars and killing.... probably killed more people than both rome and greece combined in just 1/10 of the time they did...
As for one answer that stated that Greece wasnt a real empire let me remind you about Alexanter the great

What else can happen to a country that elects Bush... Twice???????????
I have nothing against Americans but they should wake up and smell the coffee.... Your politicians are going to be the end of your countrys prosperity just as history taught us so many times before....
Stop them. SAY NO TO WAR.

Yes. The question is not If, but when? Nothing lasts forever, no matter what it is. One day the US will no longer be the most powerful country in the world. In our current geopolitical world, the US will always be one of the dominate players because of our resources. However, places like China, India and Europe (if it unified more) could surpass the US as the most powerful nation on Earth.

Nations/Empires do not fall in 8 years, however. Things can go wrong in that time frame, but they do not collapse or lose all hope. The next 15-20 years will be very telling as to if the US is to remain the worlds most powerful nation through the 21st century.

No, because the United States isn't an empire. The mere thought of the USA being an empire is grotesque to real Americans.

I think comparing US with Rome and Greek Empire is wrong. Rome and Greek Empires gave many things to the world, but US give just blood, tears and hate to humanity.

i do not think so. first, greece was not a true empire. the greeks did not go out and conquer other lands as the romans did. rome was also much different than the US. the romans stretched themselves out incredibly thin - their empire went from great britain to spain to germany to northern africa...there's only so much territory you can conquer before become highly vulnerable to attacks. and indeed, that's what happened to the romans when the barbarians began their steady assaults that eventually worked to bring down the empire. although the US invaded iraq, the US is not intent on physically conquering other nations and imposing our own rule - iraq truly appears to be an anomoly. the US will not stretch itself too thin anytime soon. and don't forget, even the romans, conquering lands left and right, had a powerful empire of hundred and hundreds of years.

Yes, in the aspect that the US had a big cultural and scientific progress in the 20th century, but now it is declining, although technical achievements are high and military action is expanding. This is exactly what happened to the Roman Empire, unfortunately because of bad leaders!! (So think twice when you vote!)

Both Greece and Rome had periods of high artistic and intellectual achievement. The US has never even got close to that.

The short answer is yes. The question is, can it be reversed? Yes. If you look at all the fallen empires there is one thing that they all had in common. They all had left God out of the picture. Little by little, we are seeing God being left out of the picture. No prayer in schools, proposals to take "IN GOD WE TRUST" off of our currency, ot allowing the 10 commandments in our court rooms. If you are allowing these things to happen and are not doing nything to try and prevent it, sooner than later, we will be a GODLESS people just waiting for the fall.
