First, its ELECTORAL not Electorial. I agree with doing away with it, but it has nothing to do with what time you vote. The reality is it has just outlived its usefulness.

Contrary to popular belief, it doesnt help smaller states gain influence over larger more metropolitan states. Quite the opposite. The Primary System helps smaller states and there is a movement to change that to make larger states like California earlier and take that influence away.

The Electoral College causes candidates to spend time and money in just a few states that are "in play". The candidates ignore states that are either overwhelmingly for or against them. Thus a Republican spends less time in NY where he cannot win and TX where he is assured he will win. Democrats spend little time in California where they know they will likely win and GA where they know they arent likely to win. Democrats voting in Texas or Republicans voting in California have little chance of their votes mattering.

Your vote means nothing anyway. The electorial College can vote for whomever they want, so at the end of the day it really don't matter.

The problem isn't with the Electoral College itself.

The problem is with the way the Electoral college is implemented by most of the states. If you change the state laws so that Electoral votes are allocated on a pro-rated basis based on percentage of popular vote, rather than all-or-nothing, it makes for a much fairer system.

Your vote also means nothing if you don't vote with the majority in your district. Nothing better than a system that can elect a president that doesn't represent the majority of voters. Only in the USA. . .

Your vote means as much at 11:00 p.m. as it does at 8:00 a.m. and the electoral college has nothing to do with that. Thank God we don't live in a democracy, our representative republic is a better system.

In order that your vote will not mean nothing, you should comply with the necessary time schedule of voting and the necessary procedures in voting. Do not be in a hurry, you will be accommodated to vote for your own candidate.

Why do you think they have to wait hours after voting ends before they declare winners? Might it be to give them time to count votes that came in at the end?
