What musical time period are you interested in? I know of really good songs from the turn of the last century into the 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's and through the 90's. Are you looking for songs to sing, play on an instrument or just listen to?

Don't want to load you down with everything unless you specify a time period.

I sing and play piano and like to listen to music. I love some of the old music from the late 1880's through the early 1900's and have a wonderful website that I go to that has the beautiful sheet music covers (an amazing early art form), history of the songs and composers, and with a free download of the Scorch application, I can hear the song played and read along with the printed score. I also collect antique sheet music that I display on my antique player piano.

I also love music from early movies like Hello, Frisco, Hello, particularly the beautiful love ballad, You'll Never Know. I also love a beautiful love song written by Gilbert O'Sullivan in the early 1970's entitled Happiness Is Me and You. And the 1990's had a wonderful array of beautiful songs by various artists, including the song penned by Sergio Mendes, Never Gonna Let You Go.

It depends on how old you need it to be. For early 20th century look at the music of George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, or Richard Rodgers.
