What is the best way to somewhat cover a cigerette burn. The black stuff without tearing up the rug.. Hubby likes to fall asleep with his cigs.. I told him to go outside or downstairs and smoke, but he refuses.. Plzzz advise!!! ty :)

Ok people read this carefully.. Its for a RUG not CARPET.. I don't have extra pieces of the rug to repair it..

Okay, what you do is go to inconspicous area of the carpet. Take a razor blade or shaver that's sharp and scrape off fuzzies (or ball of material) enough to probably fill the burn.
Then take the razor (u could use a seriated knife and try to scape up as much of the burnt area out. Then put some really good glue (glue gun works too) puff the scrapings of the carpet and place them in the area of the burn you have scraped out and move around to get a good match.

Well the best thing to do is to repair the burn. It is really easy actually. If you can pull out the fibers one at a time pull out the burnt ones making a circle no bigger than a nickle. Go to a closet and cut out a piece that will fit into the hole. Trim to fit. Put some hot glue in the hole and place the carpet piece in. Caution if you use too much glue the fibers around the "plug" will get glued down. After you put the plug in squish it down real well. When the glue cools down trim the top of the plug fibers off even with the other carpet and you are good to go.

Well i am going to tell you what to do .. On the rug that is burnt, cut out as much of the burn that you can, go into a closet or a place that is not seen, and trim off some carpet, with the scissors, you will not be able to tell it, cut off enough to fill in where you have the burnt carpet, take a glue gun, and spread glue , in the space, then pack the scraps of carpet into the hold,, you can`t tell it at all.

ok hubby has to go outside before he set fir to the house, as for your question , try a small amount of paint after you trim the burned spot. or cut it say a 3x3inch piece,and get new bit from under the sofa and replace it , or just tile the whole house much safer lol

Use acrylic paint? if its just on the surface shave it with a safety razor this will cut the top off and it will not be as noticeable..The burn being on the surface means only the top fibers are scorched. Sounds crazy but works
