In today's Rangers v. Isles game. I think he will be suspended around 10 games, but he should get the remainder of the season+ postseason.

Simon will be suspended for the rest of the season and hopefully the playoffs and into next season. The best punishment was the Rangers making the Islanders pay for that cheapshot.

I say Simon will probably get 10-20 games for the hit, closer to 10. After watching the replays, why wasn't Hollweg nailed for boarding on the hit? Simon was 2 feet away from the boards, back turned and Hollweg drills him face first into the boards from the back.....isn't that boarding? Not to defend Simon, but if the refs had blown the play dead on the original penatly there would have been not retaliation. The officials are partially to blame as is the NHL for the leagues crack down on minor penalties and letting the dangerous hits like Hollweg's go.

So Simon....10-20 games. The NHL and refs.....a lesson on what is important to call (not stupid little hooks, but dangerous hits from behind) and the NHLPA who will no doubt challenge Simon's suspension, smarten up and don't sacrifice one player for another to make a point!!

It will be interesting to see how long. I'm saying 10-15 games and thats only because he came back and played. The league should make a statement and suspend him for the rest of the season. What he did is almost as bad as the Brashear-McSorely incident but Donald was knocked out. Same thing with the Bertuzzi-Moore incident. The suspensions are longer is the player is really hurt but in Hollwegs case he came back so 10-15 should be about right.

I always liked the fact that Chris Simon was an enforcer throughout the years, but tonight, he went too far. His only intentions in going after Hollweg were to injure him. The NHL will suspend him at least the rest of the season. If he had done that out on the street, he'd be facing assault with a deadly weapon charges. Sad day for hockey. You can be agressive and an enforcer without resorting to blantant cheap shots such as the one we saw tonight.

Dave Brown got 15 games for a similar attack on Tomas Sandstrom 20 years ago. So, what does that translate to in 2007 dollars? Seriously, though, it deserves 20 games (regular season and playoffs).

I think the league will be making an example of Mr. Simon.

Last night should be Simon's last game in the NHL. He's not an enforcer, not a tough guy, not even a goon. He's a dirty player who should have learned not to do stuff like this long ago. Not that the Islanders are/were going to be a force in the playoffs, but something like this and the circus that ensues could cost the team their playoff berth.

Just as important is the fact that as the sport wanes in popularity in the US, the only things non-fans hear about is crap like this. The league should suspend him for life and collect in fines the amount of money he's costing for the bad publicity.

The precedence is already set. Simon will NOT be out of the NHL forever.....take a look at Bertuzzi, he's still playing and his cheapshot was way worse.

"Vicious attack" ....come on now. Hollweg was smiling and happy that his team won the game and he's getting the spotlight. Thanks to his check from behind on Simon and thanks to the 4-Blind Mice that they call refs, Simon took matters into his own hands.

Simon may be out for the season - but I hope not.

My View : I think Bettman should let Simon sit until next season.

Bettmans View : Holy Crap! Did you see Hollyweg try to take the stick away from Simon by wrapping his throat around it! Why didn't the refs call Hollyweg for holding the stick? I thought we had cracked down on the clutching and grabbing? WTF?

Non-hockey Fan View: What the hell is wrong with hockey? All I ever see is guys getting hurt with cheap shots. Those guys are stupid!

25 video games a minimum of. Simon slew-footed Ruutu, then stomped on his ankle while he replaced into down. He could have severed Ruutu's tendon. apparently, even the Islanders homestead television commentators are bored stiff with Simon and his ethical experience efforts to injure gamers. the guy has some rage matters. Ruutu had an come upon with Simon earlier interior the activity. Uh, FSN Pittsburgh cameras weren't following it (they have been following the %., that's what they ought to have been doing) yet Ruutu and Simon have been down on the ice. Bob Errey mentioned it gave the impact of they have been "rolling interior the hay" at the same time. Lol, wow. I do have self belief Ruutu purposely fell on good of him nevertheless. So Simon replaced into already seething. Now, i'm no longer asserting Ruutu's a hero or on the instant in charge for the win by way of fact i be attentive to he's merely filling the situation he's paid to and he's merely attempting to stay interior the lineup or perhaps benefit greater ice time... yet for this reason i like Jarkko Ruutu. (on the Pens, of direction... i'm specific i would not like him as plenty if he performed for yet another team!) Ruutu could have paid truly a value, had he been injured, just to attraction to a penalty in a activity that his team had the lead in. Agitation is an paintings and that i think of he's one between the desirable pests interior the activity immediately. Admittedly nevertheless, I watched this activity with a chum and we did no longer provide Ruutu the excellent thing correct to the doubt; we thought he replaced into faking an harm in the beginning up, by way of fact FSN Pittsburgh's digital camera zoomed in on the top a million/2 of his physique as he lay on the ice. Then Simon skated away, the ref got here visiting, and unexpectedly Ruutu replaced into clutching his leg. i thought he replaced into faking it like Barnaby. Haha.
