Number One HAS to be 'Superfly'! 'Shaft' & 'Blackula' too without a doubt. I wish I knew more but times were different in the early 70s when I was in elementary school...(in a mostly 'white' town :-( I didn't grow up around a lot of prejudism and was taught we were all equal but, at the same time, as a white male growing up, I had no black role models. If that makes any since.

I saw them all and with respect to box office success,all of the following profited enormously(some up to and beyond 20 times their production budget).---Shaft/Superfly/The Mack/Coffy/Cotton Comes to Harlem/Dolomite/ The Hammer/Black Belt Jones/TNT Jackson/Troubleman/Sweet Sweetback's Bad_ss Song(this one initiated the whole genre).These were to top 10 bank busters in that era.Others did notably well in the market too.
