I want my friend to visit me from Egypt and he continiously insists that I must invite him to do so. I cannot find any information online stating that I must invite him. Is this true? And if so, how do I go about inviting him to visit?

You should have no need to "invite" him, if he is coming on a tourist visa. Which I guess it is, as you say, visit.
If you want to be sure give your nearest Egyptian Embassy a call.
But you are right there is no rule, that requires you to officially invite him to visit.
All the paper work required is done at the Egyptian end.You should not have to become involved on an official level at all.
Unless it is migration,under the family reunion plan.At this stage as a friend, he would not qualify.
All he may need to fill out as a tourist,is a form giving an address where he will be staying.This will be given out in flight.
With many people, this is just a hotel address.
It is not really a great concern,or ever followed up. Unless someone has had prior problems with customs or immigration.

Some people believe this increases their chances to get a visa, but actually it does not. The invitation method was very common maybe 20 or 30 years ago when people did not travel internationally with the frequency that they do today. There have been so many changes in immigration laws and visa regulations in recent years that this does not come into play anymore. All your friend can do is go through the proper channels with Egyptian authorities and apply for a visa. Good Luck to you. I am going through the same thing myself right now trying to get my friend to come visity me. Of course I am talking about the United States here. It might be different for Europe or Austrailia. I have an Egyptian friend who is a legal resident of the USA send an invitation to his brother and mother in Egypt so they could attend his wedding and they were both denied.

Actually inviting him will play a key role in getting the visa, so do not under estimate the value of a citizen inviting a foreigner.

There is no standard template of an invitation. Make sure you include the below info;

1- Your full name
2- His full name
3- His passport number
4- Your full address
5- Your ID number/ social security etc
6- Duration of visit
7- Purpose of visit

Once done you can fax him a copy and he can take it to the embassy. No need to fax it to the embassy, as long as they can electronically verify your information.

Now, an invitation is only 1 part, he needs to submit a lot of documents too including;

1- HR letter from the company he works for or a tax registration card number if he owns/ operates his own company
2- Bank statement
3- Stock, bond etc statement if available
4- Copy of national ID

Along of course with his passport etc. The combination of the letter along with the above listed requirments should make things run smoothly.

Hope the above helps.

Of course he wants you to invite him to England they all do,
you actually said it yourself(continuously insists that I must invite him to do so.)don't see how long your Friendship lasts when you say no.
you can not invite him he has to apply for a visa, you may be gullible but the British government are not,
in order for him to get a visa easily he has to be married, not to you but an Egyptian woman, so where does it put this poor girl after he has used her, he is also using you so wake up the men hear have a saying and they tar all infidel women with the same brush, (your brain goes between your legs when you come to Egypt) hence you are all fair game,
i live with these people so I know all the scams and the cons that go on. and I undrstand a lot of what they say to each other,

any foreigners do not always need an invite to travel for tourism. but immigration and customs do like to know where these people will be staying and what they will be doing in this short time. so u can find your answers in tourist visa sections on any immigration page. but u can write up an itinerary of what u and he will be doing and what is your relation to him. and if any marriage took place before 60 days in usa, it is not considered legal enough to be considered for a green card. the best thing to do is type in the search bar anything u need and read these. also he must prove to the embassy he has money in the bank to cover any extra expenses and also proof of travel time. so many egyptian men want to live in usa it makes me ill to think how little they care about their own country and their families to want to just get up and leave their responsibilites there. if he does it like that so easily to his family, he will do it to any woman also. beware. i can be reached at xxbigkisses@yahoo.com

I don't think u really "have" to send an invitation for ur friend, but his chances in getting a visa are better w/ the invitation. It assures the embassy that he'll have a place to stay and someone to take care of him while he's visiting.

I guess you have excellent answers concerning the "how" part. As for "why", well it is because it is so difficult for Egyptians to get a tourist visa to visit the United States. It's almost impossible.
