"Why has the liberal Media not reported that violence is down 80% in Baghdad since the recent troop surge??"

In short, because the claim is not accurate. Of course that never stopped you people from believing what you want to believe. By using the mysterious powers of THE GOOGLE, I was able to find where you found this story (besides the rightwing blogs which link to each other for proof):

http://www.iraqslogger.com/index.php/post/1462

"Badr News Net reports that the level of violence in Baghdad is down by 80% since the launch of the new security operation, according to Colonel Qasim Atta Al-Musawi, a Defense Ministry spokesman. Colonel Al-Musawi stated in a press conference today that the Medico-legal Institute (main morgue) in Baghdad has received 20 corpses over the last two days, compared to the usual 40 or 50 corpses each day prior to the start of the Imposing Law military operation."

Wow sounds like great news huh??? Only finding 20 corpses per day! If only we were so lucky here!!!

You know what's Ironic? Look at the official civilian deathtoll for the last 6 months:

http://www.icasualties.org/oif/

Iraqi security forces/civilians:

Oct-06 1539
Nov-06 1864
Dec-06 1752
Jan-07 1802
Feb-07 1531
Mar-07 520 (to increase as the month continues)

Hmmm funny, the mighty power of my calculator indicates that Feb's total of 1531 is exactly 15% less than 1802 of the previous month. That took about 3 minutes to figure out. I can understand why you might have trouble with it though. You come from a crowd that thinks 51% is a mandate, so clearly numbers aren't your strong suit.

PS- I'm a girl, and check out the second OFFICIAL link, which directly contradicts your claim. Idiot.

First, where are you getting your statistics? Because the reports I'm seeing from the in-field commanders are showing an increase in local violence. Including the comments from U.S. Gen. David Petraeus, the new commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, who said that insurgents in Baghdad have intensified attacks recently.

Then again, the "recent troop surge" is 1200 military police assigned to Bagdad. So, if 1200 MPs are enough to drop violence by 80%, then we shouldn't need to send more than 200-300 more total, right?

I don t know what news your watching but the violence is more then ever and this is the fourth or fifth troop surge and the generals are saying there is no way America is going to win this war. But with 100,000 Haliburton and other western nations and US mercenaries and oil workers earning big bucks as they trample Iraq I dont suppose they will withdraw , meanwhile Bush is makeing his nest in Sounth America so he can run and hide there when all these American violences turn back on the nation they are from , though I dont think he will live much longer, karma and all that.

"Why has the liberal Media not reported that violence is down 80% in Baghdad since the recent troop surge??"

There is no liberal media. There's the legit media, and then there's Fox. The legit media provides legit coverage. Fox clears their coverage with George Bush before they air it.

So to answer your question, the legit media doesn't report stories that Fox makes up, as though they were true.

Yep, in Watts, L.A. in 'sixty 4, whilst the army nationwide look after hit the streets with tanks and gadget weapons, the rioting stopped almost in one day. comparable element they are employing in Baghdad, yet what happens whilst all those tanks go away? And... might you prefer to have those tanks deployed interior the streets of your city? and could desire to bypass by using checkpoints each and every 0.5-mile to visit the save? think of not.

Because of all the "good news" that we've heard before that just turned out to be fleeting "made for tv" moments.

Why don't you give it a couple of months before you call it "Mission Accomplished", eh?

Because it is their worst nightmare!

Can you imagine, Bush succeeding in Iraq...and after all the drama and theatrics we've witnessed since the November Election.

While it is too early to tell whether the surge will prove ultimately effective, it has to be keeping the Dem's and their media outlets up nights!

You missed it. They did. But it was then drowned out by 80 deaths here, and 40 deaths there by more bombs.

I'm happy you only look for optimistic news...that is probably good for your soul. Plus it keeps you a little sheltered from the "ugly" in the world.
