The heat is overrated - I think that 10 months out of the year Dallas is fine - July and August can be tough but not every summer is the same.
If by 'Dallas' you mean the Metroplex (including all of the suburbs) then I would say 'Dallas' is a good place to live. I have a kid so Coppell/Valley Ranch was great for me. Plano/Frisco or Southlake offer alot too. But the city of Dallas itself, alone, does not offer much of anything. For a city that expects to be 'all that' it just doesn't have it - restaurants are fine, if you can get away from the chains, but not much else is being offered.
Good luck !

I love the Redskins. Hate Dallas. Something bad happens to me every time I go to D. I've missed flights, had flights canceled & planes break down. I was running to make a flight connection behind a man & a girl & the man turned around & shot me. It turned out he had just kidnapted the girl & thought I was chasing him. It was all over the news. No. I hate Dallas & the feeling seems to be mutual.

I love Dallas! I live 2-3 hrs away and go there as often as i can manage to enjoy Pappadeaux's seafood and Mi Cosina's mexican food as well as shop, shop, shop... there is a nice variety of museums with wonderful collections, not to mention the availability of almost any type of music concert or sporting event! The American Airlines center is fabulous and who doesn't love the Mavericks, Stars, Rangers and Cowboys? I love the combination of rich bitches and cowboys and city folks and horse trailers... it's got all of the best of Texas all rolled up and surrounded by 635!!!

I didn't used to, but then I came to college in the middle of nowhere, Virginia, and I have come to love it. It's got great museums, lots of shopping (other than just walmart like here) and it's a pretty good city, in my opinion. You just have to get over the heat thing in the summer.

Fort Worth is better. We're less crowded and nicer. Plus, who wouldn't want their city to be called Funkytown?
