- Global Warming - A Heated Debate.
- Climate Change - A Hot Topic.
- Carbon Dioxide - Too much in or not enough out?
The growing consensus is that it is all America's fault, but what about all the rain forests cleared by Brazil to grow sugarcane for ethanol? They would have had a better effect on Carbon to have left the Jungle in place!
This Guy has compiled over 100 links to Scientific challenges to the "consensus" of Human caused Global Warming. As he puts it, this isn't to debunk Global Warming, just to have a robust and thorough debate.
Good Luck!

First, it's called an Essay.
Now, I'm glad you're not closed minded because there is more to global warming than just what humankind is doing: I really wish I knew the name of this program, but I don't, but it discusses things in this that could help you try different branches:
global warming is more than likely a normal cycle that the earth goes through every 20,000 years or so because of the magnetic field is shutting down, disrupting the weather where, eventually, the north and south poles will switch places. So, it begs to wonder what really brought on the ice age: the weather patterns will eventually be all over the place before the field actually stops and reverses. I believe it was in the evidence in the Mayan (or other ancient civilizations) pottery that reveals the metal in the potterys being pointed towards the magnetic pull of the south, where right now its in the north.
I hope this helps give you some direction to look into.

Yeah, I think you're right.
I'm actually writing an essay on global warming, too... (middle school writing class assignment)
I'll give ya what I've got:
www.co2science.org -This website discusses the possibility of carbon dioxide causing or not causing global warming. There's a very good article here by K.E. C.D Idso about global warming being caused by the sun, you might find it useful...........
www.biocab.org -- this site has some graphs and charts that might help.
www.rushlimbaugh.com -- Rush's site discusses some of the political stuffage behind all this........ might help if you want to go into the political side of things.
Do a search on the Medieval Warming Period and the Little Ice Age, as well as looking for something about the "global cooling" scare back in the 70's.......
Hope this helps.

How about "Global Warming: Natural or Our Fault?" Usually, in my class, the essay titles are rather short. If it was me writing this for my teacher, it would be just "Global Warming." Then I'd use the first sentence on the introductory paragraph to hook the reader.

Natural or not, most people acknowledge that "things are a changin". Whether you think it's the Sun, Co2, cows, fires, volcanos, or a conglomeration like me. My main reasonning for my guess is that I never heard of records being broken so much, so it tends to make me a bit jaded towards believing something is happenning. I do think that if humanity stopped driving and ate more vegetables, it would help more than just the record highs.

Have you seen "An Inconvenient Truth" and learned about the CO2 levels in the ice samples going back millenia? It's quite disturbing. Get some actual information as you speculate about normal earth cycle. Also, speculate on why fossil fuels, which we know cause terrible health problems because of their pollution, and which are running out, should be defended and kept in use? Also, what do you know of the computer models about extreme weather patterns and how they've changed?
Lastly, are you aware that the US Pentagon feels global warming is quite real, quite manmade, and a huge problem that might send England into a deep freeze very very soon because of dilution of the gulf stream?
Remember, no good essay ignores the arguments of the other side.
YOu might want to ignore Limbaugh - citing a known liar on global warming isn't credible. I listened to that man intentionally confuse ground level ozone with upper atmosphere ozone in a discussion. He's intentionally lying to and misleading his audience. Gee, why? Who could be paying him? HMMMMMM.....
And, hello, heavily forested alaska - you have heard of pangea right? you know once upon a time all the continents were connected and warm?

I would say there is stronger evidence that this is a natural cycle that is beyond our control than their is evidence of man-made. An Answerer here mentions CO2 levels in ice, yet researchers have shown that CO2 levels actually occur as a RESULT of temperature increases, not vice versa.

first of all the "junk science" whackos don't call it Global warming anymore...since they do not want to be questioned on the sun as a factor...they have changed it to 'climate change'...so as to use co2 as a factor...they forget that so called global warming has been in existance since 1680...long before co2 was ever a factor.

Some links to prove it is a natural cycle:
http://cas.bellarmine.edu/tietjen/images/tropical_paradise_at_the_cretace.htm
http://www.gi.alaska.edu/ScienceForum/ASF1/188.html
Or simply the fact that there are oil deposits in northern Alaska indicates it was once heavily forested ( and much warmer ) than it is today.
