You do know that we have her diary, right? where she discusses her family, like her loving, indulgent father, her overbearing, cold mother, her all-too-perfect sister Margot and herself?

Where she lets us know that she was a young girl going through puberty in a confined space. Where she was full of energy and had no outlet for it but her diary? Where we learn that she had bouts of depression and frustration, as well as girlish love?

She did manage to avoid hating humanity despite the harsh hand life dealt her.

She in fact edited her diary, perhaps hinting that she knew she had a gift for writing and intended to have it published after the war.
