Not nessasarily. An illiterate person would see alphabet soup just like a strictly english speaking person would see arabic. just a bunch of abstract shapes.

I think that just because they cant read doesnt mean they dont know what letters look like. This question seems kinda mean to me. I dont know if you meant it to be.
