A. because mid ocean ridges are where new crust is formed, subduction zones are where crust is destroyed.

Although I have to agree with mmchick none of these answers is truly correct. If you look off the southwestern coast of Mexico there is a mid-oceanic ridge that is being subducted. A mere technicallity, to be sure, but nonetheless, and incorrectly worded question.
