what can i take for it, I am 24 weeks along now. This question is directed towards those of you who have had it and taken some form of over the counter med for it during pregnancy. I have tried all the non med ways to reduce it, non of them work and I feel like I have a fire breathing dragon residing in my chest.

I feel ya sister! Im 37 weeks now, and have been living with it since week 16!!! The only thing my doctor allows (and it does help) is Tums. Buy the extra strength and smoothie flavor. Take two and then chase with cold milk or water. Make sure you don't lay down at least an hour after eating (I know...you are tired, but hang in there lol). Stay away from acidic juices (especially orange and grape), spicy stuff, greasy stuff, chocolate, and caffinated beverages. Bland, I know, but it's worth it. Good luck...hope this helps!

Tums I go through a bottle every 2 weeks at least. If you look on the bottle it even says a good source of calcium for pregnant woman so even if you didn't have heartburn it would be a good daily supplement to take everyday.Congrats and god luck!!Also pregnant right at 37 wks and still getting heartburn.

Oh sweetie, bless your heart. I feel your pain. During both of my pregnancies, I suffered from horrible heartburn. You know, the kind where water makes you have heartburn! Anyway, I know I put the stock in Tums through the roof. They help, and are safe to take. Also, I like liquid mylanta in Mint. It is really cooling and soothing. I wish you the best, just remember this, lots of heartburn is "supposed" to mean your child will have lots of hair. It was true for me, both of my kids have ungodly thick hair. Good luck!

Over the counter you can take Tums, Rolaids, Zantac 75 or Zantac 150. If that still doesn't work, you can ask your dr to prescribe something stronger like Nexium. It was a life saver for me! I started on it at 7 months with my son and 10 wks with my daughter. Good luck!

I took Tums. My doctor also permitted me to use Zantac for the times when the heartburn was really bothersome, and that helped a lot. Also, drink a lot of water.

Tums. I literally went through 2 of the Costco size bottles (the berry flavor is best in my opinion).

I took Tums! And am taking them now! But only if the Seltzer water doesn't work...which it usually does.
