Manifest Destiny refers to the colonizers belief that they had a right to spread west. That it was "for the greater good". It was the way colonizers justified their actions towards Native people. And the acts they committed against Native people to act upon their manifest destiny were horrible: Genocide, Cultural Genocide, Land Theft, Rape, Torture, Kidnapping, etc... Native people were removed from their homes and cultures. When colonizers realized they couldn't force extinction onto Native people they started assimiliation policies, trying to make the Natives White. They kidnapped their children and put them into boarding schools where Natives were punished for being Native. For example, if Natives spoke their language they would be beat, their tounge would be pierced, and possibly even have fingers cut off. It was brutal.

Well, in general, "Manifest Destiny" was a racist policy by the U.S. government that declared that white, Anglo, saxon-protesants were given the land of America by God and it was their natural right to expand and conquer all of the Americas to rid it of "god-less pagans". It gave White America justification to slaughter the Native-America to near genocide all in the name of religion (thus the term, "God's land").
