... "when we know a jury's screwed up"....
In other words, when you -- sitting outside the courtroom and basing your decision on an entirely different set of facts and information -- come to a different conclusion....
OJ was acquitted because of the standard of proof. "Beyond a Reasonable Doubt" is difficult if you have persuasive attorneys. Same reason Michael Jackson was acquitted. The jury in both trials agreed that he was probably guilty, but that the prosecution had failed to prove that ... beyond a reasonable doubt.
As far as Scooter, the fact that the jury acquitted on one of the five counts means they were paying attention. And the evidence that he had made false statements wasn't even contested by the defense. The defense just tried to argue that they were honest mistakes, from faulty memory, and not intentional lies. But the jury didn't believe Scooter's testimony that he had simply forgotten five (or nine?) separate conversations. In other words, the prosecution proved its case, and the jury didn't believe Scooter's defense. That's it.
Bottom line: the jury did what they were supposed to do. And looking at things from the outside, not having sat through the trial, is not valid grounds to question the decision.

Oh get over yourself. O.J. Simpson allegedly committed murder and was acquitted.
Scooter Libby LIED under oath about outing someone whose spouse exposed the truth behind the lie used in the plot to take us to war in Iraq by using forged documents from Italy which has resulted in the deaths of close to 3,200 of our troops: He was convicted by a jury of his peers.
They were not dumb people as much as the right wing talk show shills would like people to believe. They paid attention and followed the law. He faced 5 charges and was found guilty on 4 out of the 5 charges. This meant the jury paid attention to the trial and the details put forth. The charge he was acquitted on was the weakest of the bunch which reinforces the fact that they jury paid attention. The same way Clinton LIED under oath about sex and you all had your knickers in a twist, guess what... too bad. 9 people said he told them about Valerie Plame Wilson, he lied under oath and got caught. I guess everyone else was lying but him.

Well the reason jury's are so screwed up is that most normal people get out of ever having to serve. Make it harder to get out of jury duty and you'll get better juries.

OJ's expensive lawyers got a guilty man off. Libby's expensive lawyers couldn't get a guilty man off.
