Spawn is a very interesting character and I view him as the greatest (easy now fan boys lol.) If he fought the Hulk, his body may be broken but Spawn is of a lower plane of Hell itself and he is chosen to lead it's armies, I think that outweighs the gamma radiated scientist tenfold or the teenage free lance photographer anyday.

Ohh my God! Spawn is probably more overpowered than Superman or anyother character out there even the other characters in his series are overpowered,I don't know if you are very religious (So don't get mad it's only fiction ok)But they have characters stronger than God himself Go to the Wikipedia .http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spawn_%28comics%29#Armageddon and check out the character M.O.M, or the Redeemer,Or even the Desiple he dismembered spawn,even the deamons like Mammon are too powerful. Spawn becomes strong enough to rival God and defeats Satan himself not the fake 1 who was in the movie there were 2 satans that guy in the movie and lucifer himself,So spawn may be the baddest Chracter I have ever seen as well I love it.

used to read this... loved the comic.. hated the movie.... but, that is not the question.... hold on.. gonna check the link for this info other answerer is talking about.............
oh my.... just read that link of spawn... thanks.. had not read the comic in a while and no idea of the powers granted #161 before that I would have said hulk.... since the angrier he gets the more power..... but? given the fact that spawn can now rival God AND Satan? oh forget about it... Spawn wins hands down....

Spawn is a funky character indeed, and his action figures look awesome
however, his downside is bad writing.. have you ever read 'Spawn vs Batman' ? DON'T..... -shudder-
Spawn is a fresh darker look at the world of comics that you don't get with Marvel. DC has some dark comics, but nothing like Spawn
when i'm feeling a bit angry and hated towards the world, a good Spawn comic always makes me smile

I would love to say Lobo gives him a beat down....but that could not happen. :(
I think the Spawn original idea was great. A special ops guy betrayed, sells himself into servitude to save his love. The magnitude of his power with every use he loses part of himself.
The art is over the top..typical McFarlane.
I think now he is as inflated as Todd's ego though. :(

First off Spawn could not beat the Hulk. It would be a cool concept but no ...The Hulk would destroy him. Second I know a character that will send him back to hell without so much as break a sweat...And he is John Constantine....

Uh, i don't know about all that. I don't really read the comics. I know, I know. But i liked the movie and i think the concept of spawn is great-so i guess i think spawn would crush hulk. in one sense of the word.
