My 7-month-old has never been a good napper. She sleeps well at night, but during the day would not sleep more than 30 minutes for the first 3 or 4 months. We just recently got her to the point where she will take longer naps so she's not cranky when she wakes up. But here's the problem. She's daddy's little girl, and her daddy deployed to Iraq a week ago. Since then, she's back to her old habits of 30-minute naps. She wakes up still yawning and rubbing her eyes, so I know she needs to sleep longer, but nothing that I do seems to help her sleep! I can't wait six months for her daddy to come home to get her to take a nap! Any suggestions?

Frustrating isn't it? When YOU know she needs more sleep, but she disagrees. My son was exactly like this and I did a lot of different things...nothing really worked. I will suggest darkening her room(I used tin foil!), that helped with my son. Also, you can try just not going in when she wakes....but that didn't work with MY son-he just got overly tired by playing/screaming for 4 hours every day, for a week! What I ended up doing was putting him down early for the night and giving up on naps. And I mean like 5:30pm! He slept all night surprisingly. Now he's 20 months, goes down for one 1 hr nap(my lunch break!)and to bed for the night at 6:30. It's a different schedule, but it works for us. Sorry I don't have a definitive answer for you, but you may just have a bad napper now that daddy's gone.

The Father being gone can have a dramatic effect on little ones. Plus with the teething and moving away from the infant stage most kids start exploring more. I would just hold her as much as you can even if she cries a lot. She is going to miss her Daddy. She needs to be comforted, big time.

well try laying her in her crib and walk away, she may cry for a bit then she will fall asleep. You can always lay down with her and Take a nap I know thats not always possible.Put her in her swing and let her swing till she falls asleep. If she none of those work well you are out of Luck and be Thankful she sleeps all night.Good Luck
