cantelopes. How will tomatoes, cucumbers, spinach, and squash do? Anything else?

Try patatos and lots of head cabbage and lettuce and certain kinds of cucumbers should survive. It all depends on the climite, Sandy Hot? Cold at Night ? I would say call up you local county agricultural agent and ask them. They are your local experts. I live in East Texas and the land is sandy and it is quite different than where I grew up and my husband claims it will not grow the same crops that we grew where I lived as a child.

the best things to grow are root vegetables, like carrots, parsnips, and beets. They like good drainage. But sandy soil does not hold water and fertilizer drains away quickly. so you may need to water and fertilize more often.

Carrots will do great because they'll be able to grow downward without being obstructed by clay.
