i know someone whos wondereing about this and he wantined me to ask

Yes. Perfectly legal if for your own viewing pleasure but not if you show to others.The laws have changed because it was impossible to track and prosecute. The FBI warning has changed. At least now anyway. Continue and have fun.

Actually it is not illegal to copy a DVD for personal purposes as long as you own the original. The FBI does allow personal backup copies to be made in case something happens to the original.

However it is illegal to sell these copies, or give them away.

Technically it's illegal to copy any movie, whether you sell it or not. That's what the FBI warning is for at the beginning.

But what they don't know won't hurt 'em right?

Its fine, movie companies make millions anyhow, they wont miss one sale
