and if you buy one, you can choose their appearance, and they will obey your every command.... what would you have him/her do ?

Withing the framework of the 3 laws for your humanoid robot:

* A robot may not injure a human or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
* A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
* A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law

im pretty sure that robots would become sex slaves, people would cease to procreate with people, and the world would be populated with robot-human half breeds.

The only reason I can see that they're still p*ssing around with robotics is to have a slave class of androids that do all the work. As far as having robots around the house, you probably would to do manual labour. But for sexual purposes we're just a few years from full on clones, that will probably be programmed to do all the sexual things you could think of and more. True fantasy vessels. As far as laws for robots? No fooling, Asimov said that crap back when people were afraid of the future. Being mobile computers they would do as they are programmed to do. If it isn't programmed to stop you hurting yourself, then it won't. A robot is a machine and as such can never have the same emotions as organic creatures, nor can they have intent beyond that which they are programmed to do. I understand your question on a fantasy level just as I understand what Asimov was trying to impart in his stories, the reality however is that a machine is only ever going to serve us, not replace us.

I highly doubt they could be 100% undetectable. There might be some that come pretty close to that though. As for sex and kissing a robot etc. That would have to be more like the Terminator especially if you don't pay for their services. How about clones of your favorite actress or porn star than? Maybe in the future you can rent a different body for the weekend or vacation. Talk about cross-dressing. Try watching the movie; Blade Runner. (This is for Priss.) with Harrison Ford.

I know it sounds wrong (like in the old days when IBM said the PC would never exist in average homes), but I just do not see robots that look like humans serving mankind. I see robots looking like machines and having robotic steel arms and legs that look nonhuman helping mankind, but never (god, lets hope not) would we ever allow machines to assimilate and socialize with humans.
One exception: Human looking robots for strictly sexual fantasies (ooops, damn, isn't that how the pc got into every segment in society?)

If the robot, or should I say an android was that realistic, how would you know it was not human?
And I hope you are quoting Isaac Asimov, and NOT the film!
