As a Mom, I do not like the attitude of your soon-to-be former conductor. He should be an adult and realize there are many choices in life and you are in the best position to know your own circumstances. People just act this way because they take it personally. They will carry on without you. You will have opportunities to enjoy jazz all your life, you can even join a group when you are a grandmother! Share your feelings with a parent or another caring adult, I'm sure you can find support! In fact, you are acting very mature to realize it is time to make a choice. Take care!

You're not forced into being in the club, so you can leave it by no means. How dare your conductor take you on a guilt trip! It's YOUR decision... Do what you want, but in a respectful manner... Make sure you explain why =)

Forgive and forget... take it ordinary! I enjoyed somebody reported above- 'i admire my haters'... this is the genuine spirit. Haters will under no circumstances win. So, under no circumstances stop and shop the sturdy artwork up.

I've never quit stuff like that. I just stuck with it. Sure it's hard to balance everything, but you'll get through it. Plus, when you have to fill out applications for schools or scholarships, you can put the activities down and it will look really good.
