GM uses an oil pressure switch to shut off the fuel pump if your engine oil pressure drops to a dangerous level.

When you start the car, the fuel pump relay bypasses this switch. As soon as you let go of the ignition key the fuel pump goes into safe mode.

It could be a bad relay, or blown fuel pump fuse.

Check your engine oil level........?

if your battery is fully charged and you experience this clicking as you describe thats the solenoid closing if the starter will not turn you need to check all the large cable,s under bonnet remove and clean with emery cloth get the alter nator checked whilst on the vehicle one sure thing to check is the ignition switch if you have a meter set it to the voltage scale try to wire into a permanent live in the cab have a mate next to sit next to you go for a drive see when, the vehicle is producing the fault what is the voltage on the gauge,? consider running a thick auto wire 1 gauge down from the type the alternator uses from the 12v pos terminal of the alternator into the cab and solder onto the live of the ignition switch that way you will by pass any rotten wiring in the engine bay ,i think you could have a dual fault here 1, the starter motor has a dead spot,2 the wiring has a high resietance due to rotten wiring , get a second opinion on the battery i have come across internal faults on batteries can you borrow from a friend . - best i can come up with is run thick wire thro grommet up to the main live in the cab from the positive wire at the rear of the alternator,{you must remove the earth cables to clean}point a alternator will not charge if there is a ignition light fault within the dash if this sounds hard to understand visit the auto electrician and get a mechanic on the case fuel pump etc i hope this help,s as it,s best i can do this end

sounds like the alternator has gone. The alternator keeps the battery powered. Once the alternator goes the battery eventually dies. Without the battery the engine can't fire. But when you charge the batter it has enough power to start the car but then the power is quickly used up and then engine shuts off again.

Get your battery tested, it sounds like its not holding a charge, if the battery is ok check that there is a charge going into the battery, if the car starts with jump leads it is like putting aother battery on so I would suspect the battery is the problem.
