Diesel was played by both. When Kevin Nash left the WWE they had glen jacobs come in as the new Diesel. Also at that time Scott Hall left and they brought in a new Razor Romone to team up with the new Diesel.

Here's the deal, the Outsiders went to WCW, and left WWF high and dry. So, since WWF owned the rights to the name Diesel and Razor Ramon, they posed two fake superstars to be the Outsiders replacements, as if no one would notice. Glen Jacobs played Diesel, and an indy wrestler known as Big Titan played Razor Ramon. Titan looked a lot like Hall, but Jacobs just didn't carry the Kevin Nash swagger.

Kevin Nash was the original Diesel. Glen Jacobs was the fake Diesel. It was the WWE's lame attempt to make JR a heel announcer. JR kept claiming for weeks that he was bringing back Razor and Diesel from WCW. He trotted out the fake Diesel and fake Razor on Raw and then tried to incite the fans to hate him. The whole thing fell flat.

The real Diesel was played by Kevin Nash. Shortly after his departure to WCW, WWF tried to mock him with a fake Diesel played by Glenn Jacobs(Kane) and a fake Razor Ramon. It flew like a lead balloon. The fans hated it. I'd like to think this was done as a rib mocking The Outsiders Hall and Nash and that WWF didn't think it's fans were really that dumb that they wouldn't know the difference but sadly I suspect otherwise.

It was the "fake Diesel" whom they brought in to feud with him for a brief period that was played by Glen Jacobs.
